Amazon.com has decided to shut down all of its pop-up shops in the US and pay more attention to trade at new bookstores, Reuters reported, referring to the company’s representatives.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the online retailer intends close 87 pop-up stores by the end of April 2019. For years, they have helped Amazon show new products, including the Echo voice speakers. From now on, the company will sell products in its large network of Whole Foods supermarkets and in Amazon Go cashless stores.
After a long search, the online retailer decided to shut down the temporal stores program and focus on the development of Amazon Books and 4-star stores where high-quality goods will be sold, a company’s employee stated.
The Internet company continues to develop a strategy for further expansion. Amid these events, Amazon.com’s stock price fell by 1.4%.
