Investors Took Wait And See Position Regarding US & China Affairs

American investors, who contributed to the decline in equity prices on Tuesday, December 4, took a wait-and-see position amid prior agreements between the America and China on the de-escalation of the trade war, Reuters reports, referring to a statement of the chief of the Department of the Treasury.

Speaking at a forum, organized by the board of directors of the Wall Street Journal, the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated that the value of the shares of leading companies began to rise after Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Xi Jinping, the President of China, suspended the trade war for three months.

However, the price of the shares of Wall Street firms and, primarily, banks fell on average by over 2% on Tuesday. Thus, the market aims to determine whether America and China will make an agreement concerning the end of the trade war, Mnuchin concluded.
